German Conversation Practice

The More You Practice Speaking, The Easier German Becomes.

Practise real German conversations in small online groups or 1:1 sessions.

Improve your speaking and use the German you have already learned.

The Problem: You Learned German, But Speaking is Different

You can learn vocabulary. You can study grammar. You can pass a German exam. But haven a real conversation is different.

When someone suddenly speaks to you in German, you have no time to prepare. You need to understand, find the right words and respond.

Maybe you know exactly what you want to say, but the words do not come quickly enough. You start thinking about grammar or translating in your head. You become afraid of making mistakes and say less than you actually could.

The problem is not necessarily that you need to learn more German.

You need more opportunities to use the German you already know.

German speaking practice for international professionals in Germany

Why I Created This Speaking Practice

I know what it feels like to understand a language and still be afraid to speak it.

When I came to Germany from Poland, German was one of my biggest challenges. I was afraid that someone would suddenly speak to me and I would not understand. Even simple everyday situations could become stressfoul.

I developed my own way of learning. Within about three months I was able to communicate in German. With time and practice, speaking became increasingly natural.

But I also learned something important:

Knowing a language and feeling confident enough to use it are two different things.

You can know the grammar and vocabulary and still hesitate when you have to respond spontaneously.

Today, through Germandia, I work with international professionals who experience may of the same challenges.

That is why I created this speaking practice: to give you a place where you can actually use your German, make mistakes, ask questions and keep speaking without having to pretend that you German is perfect.

What My Participants Say

I really enjoyed learning German with Ms. Anita. What I particularly liked was that we not only learned grammar, but also spoke a lot and read simple children’s stories. This made German easier and more understandable for me. The lessons were always relaxed and pleasant, and I really appreciated her way of teaching. I am very happy that Ms. Anita is teaching German again!

  • You hesitate when someone speaks to you unexpectedly.
  • You want to feel more confident using German at work or during your job search.

What We Actually Speak About and Practice

This is not about completing exercises or working through a textbook.

We use German in conversations and situations that are relevant to your real life.

Everyday Life in Germany

Practice conversations you may actually have in Germany, whether you are talking to neighbours, making an appointment, asking for information or dealing with everyday situations.

Small Talk and Real Conversations

Learn how to start a conversation, ask questions, react naturally and keep a conversation going instead of worrying about every sentence being perfect.

German at Work

Practice talking to colleagues and managers, asking questions, expressing your opinion, explaining something and participating more confidently in workplace conversations.

Job Interviews

Practice answering typical interview questions, talking about your experiences and reacting spontaneously without the pressure of a real job interview.

Speaking Spontaneously

Not every conversation can be prepared.

Practice responding when someone asks an unexpected question, finding another way to say something when a word is missing and continuing to speak even when you make a mistake.

Your Topics and Situations

Bring situations from your own life.

If there is a conversation at work, an upcoming interview or an every day situation you want to practice, we can make it part of your speaking practice.

Two Ways to Practice: Small Group or 1:1

Not everyone wants to practice German in the same way.

That is why Germandia gives you two options: practice with others in a small group or focus entirely on your own speaking in a 1:1 session.

Small Group Speaking

Practice German with other international professionals in a small group.

You will have real conversations, discuss different topics and practice German for everyday life and work.

You also learn by listening to others, hearing how they express themselves and discovering questions or situations you may not have thought about yourself.

The groups are kept small so that everyone has enough time to speak.

1:1 Speaking

Your German. Your situations. Your speaking time.

In a 1:1 session, we focus completely on what you want practise.

That could be German at work, everyday conversations, job interviews, pronunciations or simply becoming more spontaneous when someone speaks to you in German.

You get more speaking time and individual feedback based on your needs.

You already know more German than you think.  Now start using it.

What Makes Group Speaking Different

Speaking in groups gives you something that 1:1 practice cannot: you learn from the conversations of other people too.

You hear how others express themselves, how they react and wich words they use. Someone may ask you a question you had never thought of. Someone else may make the same mistake you make.

And you are not speaking only whith me. You are learning to understand and respond to different people, just as you need to do in real life.

At the same time, group should never become so large that you spend most of the session listening.

That is why Germandia speaking groups are deliberately kept small.

You should have enough time to speak, ask questions, make mistakes and take part in the conversations.

And there is another benefit: you meet other international professionals who may be experiencing many of the same situations in Germany.

Speak. Listen. Learn from each other.

What Makes 1:1 Speaking Different

Sometimes you need time to focus entirely on your German, your situations and your goals.

In a 1:1 session, you have more time to speak and we can concentrate on the areas that are most important to you.

Maybe you want to become more confident speaking in meetings. Perhaps you have an upcoming job interview, struggle with pronunciation or find certain everyday conversations difficult.

Or maybe you simply want someone to speak German with regularly.

There is no fixed program that you have to follow.

We focus on what you need most at the moment.

I listen to how you speak, notice where you hesitate and give you individual feedback. We can repeat difficult situations, work on pronunciation and practice conversations until they begin to feel more natural.

Your German. Your situations. Your speaking time.

Confidence doesn’t come before speaking.
It comes from speaking.
